THE REPLACEMENT FIANCE

By Liz Durano

A contemporary romance novella

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book is not just for Christmas, it's for life

This is a heart warming, warm hug of a read that drew me in and that I didn't want to end. Having read several books by this author I have come to expect a high standard of writing along with some good feels, though no silly and unnecessary drama. Her characters are always well portrayed and the plots are captivating. The Replacement Fiance delivered on all of these and more.

In order to safe face in front of her ex-fiance, Mariah told her family she was engaged. Now they're expecting to meet him over Christmas. Snow storms in the East mean the escort she hired is grounded thousands of miles away so in steps Logan, the man she has secretly lusted over for the last few years.

Mariah tastes of vanilla and honey, of shyness and a vulnerability I've never seen before this moment when all the masks finally come down and it's just us.

This is such a feel good read, not too sentimental or slushy, not to angsty and not just for the holidays. I enjoyed this from first line to last and my only real disappointment is that it's a novella and there wasn't more of Mariah and the extremely sexy Logan. It's a first person story, with both the hero and heroines view points.

Novella's always leave me wanting more, and in this one it was a little more depth to the characters. That's not to suggest they weren't rounded or believable, but I felt more like an acquaintance at times rather than a friend, particularly with Logan as we get less of his POV. I didn't quite get as much of an emotional connection with him. However that is the nature of shorter stories, there is always something that has to 'give'.

I did get plenty of feels from this book, especially the epilogue which really was quite cheesily perfect. It's also a slow-burn, with only one very tasteful sex scene, so whilst it's more of an adult read, it shouldn't offend anyone. I really do recommend this to all those who love reading contemporary romance. You would be missing out on a delightful read if you pass on this one.

Synopsis

The engagement may be fake.
But the emotions are real.

After learning that her ex-fiancé will be spending the holidays next door to her parents' home, the last thing florist Mariah Peters wants is for him to see that she’s still single two years after they called off their wedding. And so she comes up with the perfect lie... that she’s engaged.

Too bad the man she hired to pretend to be her fiancé is grounded on the other side of the country and can't make it in time.

Enter friend Logan Garrison who volunteers to be the replacement. After all, that’s what friends are for, right?

But that’s before a practice kiss changes everything...
