My Review - 5 out 5 stars

Well a chunk of the way through this book I was very disappointed with who I thought/felt Mila would end up with as I was most definitely on the other guy's team. BUT a few chapters later following some wonderful writing by this author, plot twists and revelations and more, I had my mind completely and utterly changed.

In many ways this had very little romance in it, the story was so much more about letting go of the past, recognising what our hearts truly need, want and feel and new beginnings and understanding yourself. However, and very importantly, the book does NOT lack in emotion. My heart was dragged one way then the other, stomped on a few times but also carefully pieced back together by some of the awesome talent that is Veronica Larsen.

I really liked Mila, she was tough, go-getting and strong and whilst she seemed to lack any sense when it came to Cole and Andrew, she herself recognised that understanding her own emotions was a weakness. Andrew I loved from the start and Cole grew on me, although I found it hard to forgive his utter stupidity and selfishness that had destroyed Mila 8 years before.

I liked how our perception of some of the side characters in this story were altered as various secrets and lies were revealed. There were side stories and sub-plots galore in this book that along with a well paced main story kept me gripped. I found the author's style of writing very easy to read, the characters were well written and had depth to them and just when I thought I knew what was going to happen the story changed and I had to guess again.

There was nothing about this book I didn't enjoy, perhaps other than that tense, anxious feeling of wondering if there will be a HEA and who will get it! The fact that I read it in one go should tell you everything.

Eight years ago, Cole Van Buren left me at the altar without a single explanation. My heart’s been at a standstill ever since, the anger keeping me from moving on. Keeping me from seeing the man who’s been right in front of me all this time…

Andrew’s been the friend I needed, the one constant through the hardest times of my life. But one night, the lines blur and we’re tipped into something more. Just when I’m ready to explore what we could be…

My ex comes back.

Cole says he didn’t come to get me back, but I should know better. The answers he dangles overhead are the ones I need to finally let go.

Except there’s no such thing as closure, only a past that wants to pull you backward.

About the Author:

Veronica Larsen began writing around the age of seven, scribbling Nancy Drew-like stories between the margins of composition notebooks. Her journey into the romance genre began once upon a long military deployment when she penned a steamy romance for her husband, a US Marine. This story eventually turned into her debut novel Entangle. She fell in love with writing romance and hasn't looked back since. Her novels are known to feature engaging story-lines, relatable characters that tap into heart-tugging truths, and a tangible chemistry that builds throughout the story. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which has come in handy in resolving the messy lives of the fictional people in her head.
