Just a little Harmless Sass
Codi Gary
Twilight, Idaho, is all Greer Kimble knows. Despite the rumors and fear-inducing campfire stories, she's never seen a wolf in her hometown woods. But then a tumble roughs her up and puts her face-to-face with the most beautiful creature she's even seen. One moment she's looking at a mesmerizing beast, and the next she's in the arms of a sexy stranger with eerily familiar electric-blue eyes. And now she's caught in a war between fear and lust.
Beautiful, curvy, and sassy as hell, Greer is everything Xander Thorson craves in a mate. But he can't allow a distraction like desire to compromise his mission to track a pair of rogue shifters who murdered his family. Hunting justice, thirsty for vengeance, he needs to stay focused. Getting involved with a woman who challenges him at every turn is as dangerous as it is reckless.
Xander's vow to stay away from Greer shatters when the shifters target her to get to him. He'll do anything to protect her...even if it means making her his.

MY REVIEW
This was what I would call a very 'typical' shifter book but also a well written one. Greer and Xander were both well written and likeable characters. I felt Greer had more depth and made more of a connection with the reader, this may have been a deliberate move by the author to emphasise Xander's 'lone wolf' attitude.
There was plenty of fast-paced action to keep you in the story, and this momentum combined with the book being novella length made it a one-sitting read. Not having read any other books set in this 'world', there were a few shifter characters I struggled to "get a grip on". I'm sure reading other books in the series would clear this up.
The chemistry between Xander and Greer was definitely hot and you definitely need to like (almost) insta-love for this story. I did like that Greer didn't take the whole shifter 'thing' in her stride but actually had some issues - especially towards the end of the book. I felt a little let down at how suddenly she did a complete turn around though, personally I wanted some discussion with Xander and a little more soul searching. But hey it's a novella so you either choose action or emotional depth, and this book went for action.
I've not read anything by Codi Gary before and this was definitely a positive introduction to her work. Whilst I might not be rushing out to buy all her books (mainly because I have 96 paid for books waiting to be read on my kindle and over 200 free books!) I will be keeping an eye out for this author in future.

Author Bio:
Since I was eleven years old, I've know I wanted to write books, but it wasn't until I picked up my first romance (an alien abduction slave and master book) that I knew what I wanted to write. Although I got side tracked with school, working as a Veterinary Technician, and eventually having my two beautiful babies, when we moved to Idaho in the dead of winter, with one car and all the books on my shelves read a dozen times, I finally sat down and started writing my first book. It was terrible, as most first novels are, and it will never see the light of day.
But then, I saw a posting on Avon Romance's Facebook page; an open call for Valentine's Day novellas. I never expected to have The Trouble with Sexy pulled from the slush pile, or dared hope for the eight other books and one novella that would follow it.
But now, I get to live in my special world where even when life get's hard and the chips are down, anything can be overcome with humor, good friends and family, and a happily ever after. Because, let's face it, life isn't always like it is in books. That is why the world of romance is so important. Every book, every HEA, and every hero an author makes you sigh over, can help relieve your stress and worry, at least for a little while. It's why I read amazing authors, from YA to Historical, Indie or Traditionally published, I love them all.
When I'm not writing, I love to kick back with my kids and take a nap or watch a movie, catch up on my must watch shows, knit a scarf, or read one of my favorite authors. I have been in love with animals since my first tuxedo Manx at three years old, and have a special fondness for Calicos (even the ornery ones). Even though I am more of a cat person, I adore our family dogs, and adopted a very spoiled PUG named Bella, who has become my shadow (or growth, as my husband likes to call her.) You'll find my animals get to make cameos in my books, and I believe that all fur babies need to be rescued. Oh, and I watch adorable animal videos when I'm sad.
