I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like Domination/submission books.

A frightened young woman and a dominant cop 

Protecting His Runaway is a hot and engaging mix of romantic suspense and steamy kink.  Whilst this is part of a series of books, with Trevor having appeared as the hero's brother in Book #1, it can easily be read as a standalone and doesn't have a cliffhanger ending.

I met the author via the Black Light series of books and ended up reading this series totally out of order, starting first with Book #3, His Captive Pet and then reading Book #1, Protecting His Pet.  I really like the authors blend of BDSM and romantic suspense, where the kink feels an integral part of the plot rather than an add-on.  I was quite surprised to find the scenes in this book don't feel quite as hard-core nor as dubious in consent as the 'Pet' books did.  I did still very much enjoy this story and I totally empathised with Addison when she gave Trevor attitude, there were times I wanted to scream "Unfair!" (I love a book that makes me feel).  However clever writing persuaded me to change my mine or accept situations and decisions that he made.

Trevor is sent to retrieve the runaway Addison.  He wonders why, as a policeman, he is being sent to retrieve an adult.  Whilst he originally wants nothing to do with the case, his instinct tells him to find out if this is more than just the temper tantrum of a spoilt princess.  Within minutes of meeting Addison, Trevor is saving her life.  He is determined to find out the truth, and his inner Dom can't resist taking charge of this naughty little sub.

I liked Addison, she was such a strong and brave individual.  With the way her parents have treated her, and with other things we discover over the course of the story, it is small wonder the girl struggles to trust anyone.  I was a little surprised that a man as strong willed as Trevor would have been willing to chase after Addison in the first place, however we wouldn't have had a story if he hadn't done so.  The book is written 3rd person and switched between both main characters POV's.  This allowed me to feel a connection to both characters, and for me it enriched the reading experience. Trevor and Addison had a truly remarkable chemistry, there are some very hot and intense BDSM scenes between them.  I was glued to this book from start to finish and had to force myself to put it down and get some sleep before getting up for work the next day.

Whilst there is a fair amount of sex in the book, it didn't feel gratuitous, though it is pretty explicit.  If you don't like BDSM in a story, or enjoy punishment scenes then this may well NOT be the book for you.  However if you don't mind kink with your steam then I do recommend this well written, interesting and very hot story.

SYNOPSIS
