I came across this fab page by Amanda on UK Scrappers. I loved the hexagon design and as I have a similar(ish) mask and it was part of a challenge I decided to have a go. The challenge can be found here and is based on this sketch.
I had a really old photo I wanted to use - my Sons' with what was one of their best friends, at the end of Year 6. By the time I was scrapping photo's from this time they had all moved up to secondary school and had drifted apart. However this past few months they have become friends again and with Y11 about to start it was nice to look back at some old school memories.
I think the papers may be even older than the photo. I usually buy in the sale so never have 'current' ranges, and purple seems to be very out of fashion in the scrapbooking world - but the colour was perfect to match to the photo - and boy was I pleased to actually use the papers - I have had them years! The blue 'love this moment' sticker is the newest item - it is from Webster's Pages 'Recorded'. I cut it into two pieces so that I could have a similar piece at the bottom of page. I used a stamp from the Simple Stories DIY set to stamp the 'heart this' on the second piece.
Because my photo was lower than the sketch I moved the title and cluster above it. I added an extra cluster to emphasise the diagonal line.
The clusters are made from punched shapes and washi tape.
Getting these papers used (and such an old photo scrapped) really gave me a sense of achievement - I need to do this some more :)
Thanks for stopping by,
Louise x

Great take on the sketch. The colours are perfect and your background page couldn't have been more suited. It certainly looks like the boys were having a great time. You've inspired me to check my "stock" more often. Maybe I'll find a treasure in there too. Thanks so much for joining us at Stick It Down.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I usually get rid of papers that have sat in my stash for years but this one was just far too nice, so I am REALLY pleased to have finally used it :)
