The very best Billionaire Bachelor yet
Lila Monroe is very much my go to author for a light hearted read with just the right blend of steam, funny, emotion and angst to keep me interested. I find her style of writing really easy to read, It draws me into the story in such a way that time just flies. There is no effort required to thoroughly enjoy these tales of sexy men and the women who tame them.
Nick isn't your typical mega-rich man, he's a PI but one with a lot of money in the bank. Alice is the staid and reliable PA whose shoes are the only daring part of her personality that she ever puts on public display. Desperate for a little more excitement in her life, Alice persuades her boss, Olivia, to allow her to play the part of Nick's fake fiancee. What happens next is anything BUT fake!
We've caught little peeks of Alice in the previous books, so I was massively excited to read her story. I just knew she had hidden depths under those boringly safe and formal work outfits, and I wasn't disappointed. Alice just felt so very real, as well as massively likeable and just a little bit geeky. Most of the book is written from her POV and you just can't help but really, really like her.
We got more chapters from Nick's POV than I'm sure we have from previous male characters. However I really appreciated this. Nick is such a buttoned up character, so quiet and mysterious that we needed to hear more more from him, in order to understand and know him. He is as gorgeously scrumptious as the chocolate that was at the heart of this plot. And his swoony good looks and charming personality had me melting like chocolate left out in the sun.
The chemistry between this pair was wonderful. Not too insta-love, instead delightfully slow burn but still incredibly steamy. I totally believed in their attraction, their passion and their love.
The humour made this a very fun read, there are also some wonderful supporting characters who really add depth to the whole thing. I'm so pleased to know Gemma and her friends will be getting their own books. I do believe Jackson deserves to tell his story too!
I could almost picture these books as films, they have that Bridget Jones/Love Actually feel to them. I can't recommend this book enough, it really should be on your TBR list, if not lined up on your kindle to read RIGHT NOW!
