==========BOOK REVIEW=========

Hunter’s Mark (Series: Copper Creek #4) by Wendy Smith

Two lost and lonely souls who find everything they need

This is book 4 of the Copper Creek series, all of which are a wonderful blend of contemporary romance and family saga. Whilst Corey and Con's story can be read as a stand alone, there are also chapters from previous main characters, so having read the first 3 books would enhance this story. Corey has intrigued me on the occasions we have encountered him in his brother's books, so I was really looking forward to reading his story. I was quite surprised by him, he was very different to what I'd expected, though I was by no means disappointed and did enjoy reading this.

Constance has grown up in the commune that neighbours Corey's property. It used to be a nice place to live but life has gotten harder, and more dangerous, since Ash took over running it. When Ash makes staying an impossibility, Con manages to escape the commune and literally runs into Corey. This mountain of a man takes her in and cares for her. Con has never felt happier or safer, and Corey realises Con is filling parts of his heart he thought would remain forever empty. However until Ash is dealt with, Constance will never truly be safe or free.

Corey and Con's story is very gentle and warm. For most of the story there isn't a lot of angst or turmoil, though the course of true love most certainly doesn't run smoothly. They have an intense chemistry, and whilst feelings develop fairly quickly, they are together almost 24/7 so it felt very plausible.

I really didn't see that little twist about Corey, though hindsight made me spot all the breadcrumb clues and hidden Easter eggs in previous book. It was just another aspect that brought another layer of depth and emotion. In some ways the plot isn't hugely fast paced or twisty, instead the emphasis is on building characters and conveying their feelings and emotions. I felt this was particularly well done with Corey, we really experience his lust, joy, hope, loss and heartache.

I read this on the back of a book that had me feeling on edge and anxious, this was a wonderful antidote to that. It is a very calming read, yet is still engaging and held my attention. It's a wonderful contemporary romance that I would be happy to recommend to others. It does contain some steamy scenes, and some fairly sexual language, so is more suited as an 18+ read.
