SKIN DEEP by Trista Jaszczak is available for purchase!
Lola’s top priority in life has always been her tattoo parlor, Skin Deep and for years all she has wanted was for it to succeed. But when two of her employees decide to venture to bigger cities for a change of pace she is devastated and finding replacements proves to be both difficult and stressful. When she does hire River Hawthorne she knows that there is something different about him and whatever it is, she finds it attractive. What she doesn’t know is what River is about to do to her…Or just how much time she’ll spend on her knees for him.

My Review
I'm somewhere between 3 and 4 stars on this one. It had serious time line issues in the first two chapters involving Lola's work commitments and the transition between scenes wasn't always very smooth. However the big plus, for me, was how sensitively and well the author portrayed the growing DD/lg relationship. In the vanilla world these relationships can seem very controlling.
I loved how there were plenty of examples of how Lola really had the ultimate control and how committed River was to taking care of all her needs.
The majority of the book is about entering a BDSM relationship, with a good sub-plot involving a work colleague. There are some pretty big hints dropped fairly early on in the book, resulting in a 'big reveal' that causes some major angst and heartbreak. The emotion was really well portrayed here but things were resolved almost a little too easily.
There is another bombshell dropped, towards the end of the book. It helped tie up some ends and bring a feeling of resolution but it also felt a little rushed. I think the author could have dropped some of what felt like 'filler' near the start of the book and instead developed this element of the story line a little more.
That said this is still a very good read, it has some nice steamy moments but is actually pretty gentle in tone. Whilst it didn't blow me away I did enjoy it and would read more work by this author.
MEET THE AUTHOR:
Trista Jaszczak (jazz-ick) is the author of the Believe series (fairy tale re-tellings), and upcoming relaunches, Loverboy, What Lies Inside and the Darkness Falls series. She is an Air Force spouse and mother to two mischievous and rambunctious little girls. She is originally from Hamilton, Ohio but calls home where ever the Air Force sends her. She currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska where she finds endless inspiration in the pure Alaskan wilderness. When she isn’t writing, she spends her time with her family in the vast Alaskan outdoors, plucking away at her old guitar or working on self improvement in the gym. She loves the outdoors, the moon, old movies and music.
