My Review

Having only ever read one other book by Alex Grayson (the massively hot and steamy Bare Me) I wasn’t sure if I would like this book or not. I wondered whether the author could write as powerful a book from such a different angle.

Whilst this book is very different to Bare Me in that there is very little sex, it is very similar in the sheer intensity of emotions, the amazing quality of the writing and the wonderful characters within who capture your heart. In fact the characters are so well written they not just believable but real.

Unlike most books there isn’t just the two main characters in this one. OK the book is ‘only’ written from Gwen and Alexander’s point of views, but it would be nothing without Kelsey, Daniel, Will, Clara and Rayne. The story is one of overcoming pain, loss and sorrow, trying to accept the past and to move on in the future.

The journey taken isn’t an easy, simple or quick one, and that was one of the things I really liked about this book. Too often the hero and heroine meet and within a few chapters of the book some great emotional pain/issue is overcome. This book was more real, and for every two steps forward there seemed to be one taken back. It was worth following every step alongside these wonderful people, even if it did require copious amounts of tissues!

Alex Grayson is an author of incredible talent, every page seemed to hold depth and meaning. She fully immersed me in the story, I fought Alexander’s demons with him, I hoped and cried alongside Gwen and I prayed with and for Kelsey. This is a wonderful, wonderful read that you should not miss out on.
