***~~~+ CROOKS & KINGS +~~~***

My Review of Crooks & Kings

Crooks and Kings by London Miller
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

I would rate this 4.5 stars. It is a really well written, captivating, complex and unusual story with a little bit of mafia, a side order of bad boy and a lot of peril. There is a really good balance of romance and action/adventure in this book and I found it a real 'page turner'.

I really warmed to Mariya and Christophe (aka Fang), they are both very likeable and complex characters. The book is written from both their POV's, in a style that is easy to follow, allowing you to develop an empathy for them. The author did an amazing job of building a believable connection between the hero and heroine, as well as filling in their background stories. Both Mariya and especially Christophe have survived some very dark experiences in their lives and their methods of surviving/coping are what draw them together and make them such a suited couple.

I loved Christophe's 3 'brothers' and would love to see a story with Tacut and Winter, as these two really stood out as supporting characters in the book. The story was both a little different to the usual mafia/bad boy genre, and whilst Christophe's training and profession were a little unusual (a huge understatement!) it did make what happened in the plot a lot more believable.

I really enjoyed the epilogue where again, like the book, it was just that little bit different and had some 'unusual twists on the usual'.

I'd been going through a run of bad arc's and uninteresting free books and this was just what I needed to re-inspire my reading mojo. London Miller has now been added to my list of 'must read' authors.
