Author: Melissa Toppen

Genre:Contemporary/New Adult/Rocker Romance

Release Date: January 13, 2017

Gabe Preston.
The man who wrecked me; who tore through my life leaving no stone unturned and then simply walked away.

It took me two years to piece my life back together in the aftermath of his storm. Two years and still even the mention of his name causes my chest to constrict.

I hate him. I hate everything about him. I hate how he thinks that he can walk back into my life after all this time and I’m just going to melt at his feet. If he thinks his newly found ROCKSTAR status holds any power over me at all, he couldn’t be more wrong. If anything, it makes me hate him more.

Only I don’t hate him. Not even a little. One smile and the last two years all but vanish.

But I know what loving a man like Gabe Preston will do to a girl. I’ve lived it firsthand. I won’t make the same mistake twice. Not knowing what I know.

He may be used to having all the power, but I’m the one with the secret that will change everything.

My review - 4.5 stars

I haven't read the first book in the series but was able to read this as a standalone. there weren't lots of spoilers for the first book either. This is a well written and book, with a good, strong plot, likable and believable characters and a good pace. This is a second chance clean romance where the sex is just implied - although Gabe in true rock star style used the F-word frequently.

Gabe starts the book as quite an screwed up, selfish man and his transition to decent fellow is a little quick but was still well portrayed. Raelyn was likable from the start, I would have hoped she would have been a little more angry at/unforgiving of Gabe for a while, however she did stay true to character in that she was unable to resist him. Their relationship built well, it seemed a little quick but for Raelyn it was more a case of picking up on the love she had lost. I liked Gabe's honesty about their previous time together and how his life had gone for the previous two years and that he understood Raelyn's hesitancy to trust him.

The story is written from both the hero and heroines POV, so you get to like, understand and get attached to them both. There are lots of really good supporting characters, some of whom I am hoping we will see in future books. I found the book really easy to read, the chemistry between the hero and heroine was good and I loved the interactions between the friendship groups.

I enjoyed this so much that I will read more books by this author.
