Me on Monday

Waving to Sian and all the Me on Monday crew, and hoping you've had a good weekend.

It was a shopping in Arnold, buying flat work shoes, spotting the oldest-by-one-minute son on a billboard, daughter at a sleepover, good and bad rugby watching, housework doing, family visiting weekend.

It was a long hard slog of a week so Friday night arrived just in time. It involved the usual homemade (by my OH) curry, the getting to be usual watching rugby, a cheeky glass of cider and snoozing on the sofa.

Saturday saw us change our shopping habits and drive the 5 or 6 miles to Arnold.  OH paid some work cheques into his bank. The Hucknall branch shut a few years ago so cheques always mean a trip elsewhere.  I picked up a pair of flat shoes for work (my toe joints no longer seem to cope with standing in heels all day) ...

... and opaque tights. What did we do before they existed?  On the way home we looked out for a billboard featuring my son - I need to go back and park in order to get a decent photo of it, this was grabbed whilst my OH drove us past.

Although we nearly ended up with this shot where the window strut covers the photo.  (Not that you can make out DS anyway)

Shopping done we were back home in time for lunch.  I had crumpets with cheese, an autumn favourite.  We both felt lazy - which was as a good a reason as any to watch Japan v Samoa and Scotland v South Africa, bliss.  Whilst browsing the net I discovered that a recent layout was chosen as a winner on Stick It Down.

We kept the England v Australia game on until the end but we sort of stopped watching in parts - it was too painful.  And it meant that I missed Dr Who and Casualty - double boo!

Sunday saw me doing some vacuuming, tidying and a bit of watering the garden.  I completed and photographed a layout that will be entered in a 4 blog challenge and then in the early afternoon we went to visit my Mum.

She had just got home following a hip replacement on Tuesday but looks a lot better than she did when she had the other one done 12 years ago.  She is recovering well and will hopefully be whizzing around again soon - well as fast as someone in their late 60's can whizz around.  I didn't take a photo of her because she hadn't been able to do her hair, so here is a one from a family get together.

The drive home was lovely, some late autumn warmth, beautiful golden light and the trees turning amazing shades of orange, red and gold.

Hope you have had a lovely weekend

Louise x

  1. What a great name for a blog! I've been meaning to stop by since you commented the other day but, as you will have gathered, life is a little full on at the moment. Thanks for your kind comment. Yum to the crumpets with melted cheese. A delight I only discovered recently. I like mine with a little caramelised onion chutney spread on and then sprinkle the grated cheese over before grilling.

  2. I know what you mean about the rugby. I almost forgot I was watching the Australia v England match. Now switching to Wales - the land of my grand father! How exciting to have your son on a bill board! Something to scrap about :)

  3. Wishing your Mum a speedy recovery. I had every intention of following the rugby closely but it just hasn't happened - I hopefully will squeeze in some of the games in the last stages. Thank you for paying a visit to my blog. Mmmmm crumpets - haven't had any in years, I love Bovril on mine - might have to add some to the shopping list this week as it has now gone chilly enough here to think about autumnal food - have a great week!!

  4. Oh I'd like to see your layout that was chosen for Stick It Down - congrats on that. I like opaque tights because they hide the fact that I forget to shave my legs!!. Hope your Mum is up and about soon. Yum to crumpets and yum to most everyone's suggestions for toppings.
